Van Driver/Warehouse Operative – part time paid position

We require a part time Van Driver/Warehouse Operative
Hours: 3 days a week/22.5 hours
Pay Scale: Meets NMW/NLW
Place of Work: Weeping Cross Lane Warehouse, Ludlow
Purpose of role: Drive or act as assistant driver, operating as a Warehouse Assistant as required
Accountable to: Warehouse Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for normal day to day maintenance of the vehicle such as checking tyres, water and oil levels, vehicle cleaning
  • To ensure a regular collection and delivery service of household items. To include organising daily route.
  • To maintain a standard of presentation and conduct appropriate to the service
  • Liaise with the Warehouse Manager and customer service team as appropriate with regard to availability and delivery of furniture to customers
  • To assist with the organisation and smooth running of the warehouse providing an efficient, friendly and courteous service to public customers at the warehouse
  • Keeping stores clean and tidy, safe and easy to use
    To assist in the recording of stock and safety checks which contribute to strategic planning and development
  • To assist in the training and induction of volunteers with regard to warehousing, health and safety and ensuring all risk assessment procedures are followed in relation to staff and volunteers
  • To support the Social Inclusion Manager and Volunteer Co-ordinator in the implementation of peer mentoring and in assisting volunteers to work towards their aspirations, including review of volunteer performance and provision of constructive feedback to volunteers
  • To respect and implement the organisational policy on equality of opportunity, health and safety

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clean driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years

 

EXPERIENCE

Essential
Whilst experience of delivering high quality customer service is highly desirable full training will be given. We will look for an ability to convey information to and communicate with people with a wide range of abilities as well as demonstrable ability to plan and organise routine tasks and associated paperwork efficiently.

Desirable

  • Experience of warehousing and stock control
  • Knowledge of working with volunteers
  • Trained or a willingness to train in Health and Safety
  • Trained or a willingness to train in Manual Handling
  • Trained or a willingness to train in First Aid

  • Able to work flexible hours/days between Mon- Sat 8.30-5.00 as required
