Carpentry ‘Open Day’ a great success!!

Our Carpentry Workshop ‘Open Day’ held on Wednesday 26th August, was a great success with lots of visitors finding out what the team gets up to, seeing what happens to donated furniture and discovering how they can help us.

Throughout the day Jessica of Jessica Found IT CIC was giving a hands on demonstration on how to upcycle cutlery into various items.

 

Carpentry Workshop volunteers

Volunteers carry out a variety of tasks from stripping and polishing donated furniture to more challenging projects.

Morning or afternoon sessions available, starting with a half day tester. You will be provided with full workshop training, support and the opportunity to gain a qualification.

Help is given with travel expenses.

Free Basic Carpentry Course – not running at present

The FREE Basic Carpentry Courses are not running at the present time.

Some level of fitness is required to use the tools, and suitable shoes and comfortable clothing should be worn.

We run these courses over a 10 week period for 3 hours on a Thursday, either 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm.

The course includes:

  • the use of basic hand tools
  • erecting shelves
  • cutting and fixing skirting boards
  • making joins associated with joinery
  • making wooden puzzles

 

Held at: The Carpentry Workshop, Ludlow Mascall Centre, Friars Walk,
Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 1RZ
