Rockspring Choir receives a grant!

Rockspring Community Choir is very pleased to announce that they have received a grant of £500 from Shropshire Housing Group’s Community Development Fund.

Chris Lacey added “As the Musical Director of the Rockspring Community Choir, I am thrilled and delighted that we have been awarded this generous grant. The money is very much needed and most appreciated by everyone involved. It will go towards some new music to extend our repertoire, making our appearances in and for the local community even more enjoyable, for performers and audiences alike.

We also want to use some of the grant to promote the Rockspring Community Choir – Rockers for short. We want to attract more members through community workshops, and performances for the people of the Rockspring estate and the Ludlow area. Through the workshops, people with absolutely no musical experience can come along and discover the joy and fulfilment to be gained from community singing and hopefully continue to experience the benefits by joining the choir”

The choir meets every Wednesday evening at the Baptist Church, Sandford Road, Ludlow, from 7.15pm to 9.00pm. Everyone is welcome, and as one member of the choir put it recently “I love the choir, it’s given me a sense of belonging, and the music making has opened up a new beginning for me. Its fun and I’ve met a whole lot of new people, all with a sense of common purpose. It’s done so much for me socially”
