Community Hub contract awarded

Staffordshire County Council has announced that the contract to manage the Community Hub has been awarded to The Furniture Scheme; part of The Wrekin Housing Group. The Furniture Scheme presently manages Craven Arms and Rockspring community centres in Shropshire.

The Hub will provide a range of services to the community in a friendly and supportive environment, offering employment, training and volunteering opportunities to the local community. The contract also includes catering for residents and visitors in the restaurant and café. Catering will be overseen by Jacob Perry, Regional Catering Manager for the Group. Jacob wowed the selection panel with some tasty items from the extensive hub cafe menu.

Speaking about the award, Jean Jarvis MBE, Chief Executive of The Furniture Scheme said: “After the excitement of winning the contract the real work begins. We are now working with the design team and a range of contractors to put The Furniture Scheme stamp on the Hub. Over the coming weeks and months we’ll meet key organisations and individuals to ensure we position the Hub in the heart of the community. That way, when the Hub opens its doors for the first time there will be a fantastic offer in place for local people of all ages and abilities.”
